BAYS (Travel) Program

Eligibility: Players entering Grade 4 in Fall 2026. Players must live in Wellesley or attend a Wellesley school.

Tryouts: Player evaluations are held each spring to determine placement for the fall season.

All players must participate in evaluations to be eligible for placement on Stratified teams (Divisions 1–3), which are more competitive than Balanced teams (Divisions 3–4).

While BAYS provides a higher level of competition and commitment, every player who registers will be placed on a team suited to their level of play.

When: Games are played on Saturdays, with one or two mid-week practices scheduled by the coach(es)

• Boys games: Saturday afternoons
• Girls games: Saturday mornings

Season info:

• Fall season is 10 games from September-November. No games over Indigenous Peoples’ Day weekend.
• Spring season is 10 games from April-June. No games over Memorial Day weekend. At the end of Spring, top teams based on overall standings compete in BAYS-sponsored playoffs..
• Players are expected to participate both Fall and Spring seasons.

Uniform: Players must purchase the official Nike Travel Uniform kit (jersey, shorts, socks). Returning players reuse their kit; new players must order one before the season.

Cost: $250

Eligibility: Players in Grades 9–12 who live in Wellesley or attend a Wellesley school. Players currently participating on high-school varsity teams are not eligible for the Fall BAYS league.

When:

• Fall season: Games are played on Sunday afternoons from late September through early November. There are no games over Indigenous Peoples’ Day weekend.
• Spring season: Games are played on Sunday afternoons from late April through mid-June.

Season info:

• Fall is a recreational 7v7 league designed for high school players who are not on a varsity roster. Games are 60 minutes and played on smaller fields with no offside rule.
• Spring teams may play 7v7 or 11v11 depending on registration numbers and field availability. The season runs 7–8 weeks, with all teams competing in the BAYS League.

Location: Home games and practices are held at Wellesley fields. Away games are against other towns in the Boston Area Youth Soccer (BAYS) League.

Team size: Varies each season based on registration numbers, typically 10–14 players for 7v7 teams and 15–18 for 11v11.

Format:

• Fall – 7v7 recreational play
• Spring – 7v7 or 11v11 competitive play

What to bring: Size 5 soccer ball, shin guards, cleats, and water bottle.

Uniform: The registration fee includes a WUSC uniform jersey. Players should wear black shorts and socks.

Cost: $230 per player

Registration: Players must register by the posted deadline to be considered for team placement. Team formation depends on the number of registered players, available field space, and confirmed parent coaches.
