Field Safety Guidelines
Before every practice, coaches should inspect fields and equipment for safety.
Goal safety
- Inspect all movable goals before each session; use only on level ground.
- Ensure each goal is properly secured with sandbags on the back or side bars, and confirm the bags are not a tripping hazard.
- Check nets and frames for sharp edges, loose bolts, or damage.
- Never allow players or spectators to climb, hang, or play on goals or nets.
Moving goals
- Only adults (coaches or parents) should move goals — never players.
- Remove sandbags before moving and replace them once the goal is in place.
- Rotate wheels before moving for easier transport, then return them to the locked position when set.
- Push goals whenever possible; avoid pulling to prevent tipping over.
