Coaching At WUSC

No. WUSC provides all required training, weekly practice plans, a preseason meeting, and season-long support. Enthusiasm, communication, and organization are more important than soccer experience.

In-Town coaches volunteer during registration and are assigned to balanced teams. Coaches can request to coach with another coach.
BAYS (Travel) coaches apply each season and are selected by the Travel Committee based on interest, experience, availability, and program needs.

Yes. In-Town and BAYS head and assistant coaches are assigned to the team their child plays on.

Only coaches in Grades 3-8 have practices outside of weekend games. After rosters are released, coaches select practice times using the WUSC field reservation system and publish practice schedules through TeamSnap. Practice scheduling guidelines are reviewed at the Preseason Coaches Meeting.

Coaches are responsible for coordinating coverage with their assistant coach. Notify your Age Group Coordinator or Program Director as soon as possible if both coaches will be unavailable.

Coaches must notify the opposing coach, their team via TeamSnap, and the Referee Coordinator immediately. At least 7 days’ notice is required to avoid referee fees and league penalties. After agreeing on a new date, coaches request a field through Chris Howard.

Player evaluations are submitted online at the end of the Fall and Spring seasons. Coaches receive instructions and links to the correct forms (Grade 1, Grade 2, Grades 3–7). Evaluations must be completed within two weeks of the season ending.
